Lucknow: A woman wearing dark glasses and a mask was caught on security footage stealing a gold necklace worth thousands from a jewelry showroom in Uttar Pradesh.
The incident took place on November 17. The footage showed a “masked” woman sitting in a crowd of customers at a showroom in Gorakhpur. Her face is hard to make out, hidden behind sunglasses and a mask. This turns out to be part of her plan to escape detection.
In the video, a woman goes through several necklaces and deftly slips a box under the folds of her sari as she asks a salesperson to model one necklace. After pretending to look at other pieces, the “moral customer” leaves without buying anything. The sellers had no idea and put the boxes away without noticing the one missing set.
The box the woman managed to take away contained a gold necklace and earrings worth millions.
