3 dead, 4 wounded after latest shooting in California
At least three people were killed and four others injured in an overnight shooting in California, the AP reported.
Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Frank Preciado told the Associated Press that the incident happened just after 2:30 a.m. outside a home in Beverly Crest, an upscale L.A. neighborhood. near Beverly Hills. The three people killed were in the vehicle, while the four injured were standing outside, he said.
The LAPD said on Twitter that it received several 911 calls to the scene where they found five victims. Three were pronounced dead on arrival, while two were injured.
The other two victims drove themselves to a medical center and were taken to a trauma hospital by paramedics upon arrival, according to CBS Los Angeles. The two injured persons who remained at the scene were transported by paramedics to UCLA Medical Center.
According to the LAPD, two of the injured are in critical condition and two are in stable condition. No information about the deceased or injured victims has been released at this time, police said.
Police said the house where the victims were standing outside was a “moveable for short-term rental.” Other occupants of the house are questioned, as are neighbors and other witnesses. No suspect or motive information is available at this time.
LAPD Sgt. Bruce Borihanh told CBS Los Angeles that the department believes there is no danger to the public at this time.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, this is the sixth mass shooting in California in 2023. Beverly Crest is about 20 miles from Monterey Park, where 11 people were killed on January 21st.
