At Least 151 Killed as Halloween Crowd Surge Turns Deadly in South Korea
SEOUL – At least 149 people were killed and another 150 injured after they were crushed by a large Halloween crowd in Seoul on Saturday night, the city’s fire department said, in one of the deadliest civilian accidents in South Korea’s recent history. The crowd surge came during one of the country’s capital’s wildest celebrations of the year, with up to 100,000 people, local media reported, clogging the narrow streets of the Itaewon nightlife district on Saturday night for Halloween festivities.
