Social media influencer Sapna Gill was arrested by the Mumbai police and subjected to a medical test after she got into a scuffle with Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw outside a night club in the city on Wednesday night.
Gill accused Shaw of assaulting her at a nightclub after he refused to take a selfie with her group.
“Sapna was attacked by Prithvi. A stick was seen in Prithvi’s hand. Prithvi’s friends attacked the group first. Sapna is currently at the Oshiwara Police Station. The police are not allowing her to go for a medical examination,” said Gill’s lawyer Ali Kashif.
Mumbai police book 8 after the incident
The Oshiwara police arrested eight people under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (143, 148, 149, 384, 437, 504, 506) following the incident.
In her defence, one of the accused claimed that the cricketer tried to physically attack her, but the police are investigating the case and can only confirm her claim after a thorough investigation. Eight people are currently booked and their arrests are ongoing.
What happened between Shaw and Gill?
A couple of fans went to Shaw’s place to take a photo with the Mumbai cricket team captain and Shaw obliged, but refused to entertain them further when they returned with more people.
The two have been identified as Sana alias Sapna Gill and her friend Shobit Thakur. The nightclub manager asked the two to leave the hotel premises after Shaw’s friends complained about them.
Gill and Thakur gathered other people and waited outside for Shaw to confront him. They chased his vehicle and the two sides got into a heated argument, with Shaw’s friend’s BMW damaged in the incident.
Shaw was also seen with a baseball bat to defend himself. Videos of the incident are going viral on social media and most people are supporting Shaw while some are even supporting Sapna Gill for giving back to the superstar.
