Rae Bareli: UP police constables brutally beat up fellow policeman, all suspended; video goes viral
In a shocking video surfacing on social media platforms, several policemen from Uttar Pradesh can be seen beating up their fellow policemen. The reason for this attack on their colleague is not yet known. Meanwhile, a video of the incident is doing the rounds on social media, raising questions about the discipline of the state police.
Several Twitter users posted a video of the incident, in which three constables were seen beating their colleague with the police’s trademark polycarbonate lathi. Officers can be seen hitting the man with batons on his legs, back, and even his head. However, the man stands still for a moment and tells them to ‘hit me more’. After a while, the man tries to attack one of the policemen, who hits him as they all start beating him more with batons.
A user named Rajesh Sahu, who posted the video on Twitter, wrote, “These are not ordinary people. They are all constables of UP police. Their deployment is in the Rae Bareli district. When there was a dispute about something, they got angry with the constable. He was hit so much that he had to be admitted to the hospital. The responsibility of bringing Ramrajya to the state lies with these gentlemen.”
Responding to a video of the incident posted by a user, the Rae Bareli police said all the constables involved had been suspended.
“This matter is under the jurisdiction of the District Superintendent of the Jail. There was an argument/argument about something between the jail staff. All the staff involved in the assault were suspended. The District Jail Superintendent initiated an investigation/action in this matter. On the basis of a complaint received, a case was registered with the police Kotwali Nagar station. Necessary legal action will be taken,” the police said.
