Jared Kushner said the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago was another example of Donald Trump’s “enemies” harassing him.
“President Trump is a warrior, he’s always been a warrior,” Kushner told Fox News host Mark Levin on Saturday in his first public comments at the Aug. 8 of Mr. Trump in Florida.
“The way he drives his enemies crazy, they’re still chasing him and making mistakes trying to catch him. That’s the main thing that happened here.
Speculation is growing about Mr Trump’s inner circle helping the FBI, after reports emerged that the attack was based on information from a private source.
When Trump’s attorney met with the FBI at Mar-a-Lago in June to discuss the return of classified documents stored at the club, someone told authorities there may be other classified documents stored there, according to The Wall Street Journal. “You have to watch Jared Kushner very carefully,” he told the network.
Others have suggested that Mr Kushner and his wife, Ivanka Trump, tried to escape the former president.
“I think Jared Kushner has a lot of paranoia about his family’s past. He never wanted to go to jail,” Lincoln Project founder Rick Wilson told MSNBC.
“I think the FBI and people are guilty of forcing him to talk.”
Mr. Kushner appeared to respond to this statement during a Life, Liberty & Levin interview on Saturday.
“They’re leaking to the same sources they’re manufacturing fabulous claims that then get debunked shortly thereafter,” Mr Kushner said.
After leaving his role as a senior White House adviser, Mr Kushner launched a private investment firm that received $2bn from the Saudi Arabian Sovereign Wealth fund.
