Dr Bhupen Hazarika 96th birth anniversary: Google pays tribute to Assamese-Indian music maestro with artistic doodle

Google celebrated Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s 96th birthday with an artistic doodle. Hazarika was an acclaimed Assamese-Indian singer, songwriter and film producer. He also composed hundreds of film music.

Today on Google Doodle, Dr. Bhopen Hazarika plays harmonium. The doodle was created by Mumbai-based guest artist Rutuja Mali.

The work celebrates Hazarika’s work in popularizing Assamese cinema and popular music.

Hazarika was also one of the leading socio-cultural reformers in Northeast India. His creations and compositions brought people from all walks of life together. Hazarika was born on September 8, 1926 to Nilakanta and Chantipriya Hazarika in Saadia.

His father was from the city of Nazira in the province of Sivasagar.
