At least 4 severely injured in a German gym stabbing attack
MASS STABBING EVENT INSIDE A FITNESS CENTER IN DUISBURG!
At least four people were seriously injured in a stabbing at a gym in the western German city of Duisburg, police said Tuesday evening.
No arrests have been made and Germany’s dpa news agency said police were looking for suspects. The reason for the attack is still unknown.
The incident happened in the old city of Duisburg and the police asked residents to stay at home and avoid the area. They said there was a large number of officers behind the city hall at the scene of the attack.
Duisburg police said in a tweet that three people were life-threatening and one person was not seriously injured.
“According to current information, one person has injured another person with another object at the gym,” they tweeted earlier.
The attacker still appears to be weak, dpa reported.
“No arrests have been made,” police told dpa, adding that the hunt is on for the attackers. Investigators said it was too early to talk about a motive for the attack.
Several victims were taken to hospital and investigators searched the gym, dpa reported. Several witnesses of the attack, some still carrying their bags, were taken to a nearby restaurant so the police could question them.

Detectives hover in the gymnasium and psychologists are brought in to help the shocked witness.
Police said they received the first 911 call at 5:40 p.m. local time.
Duisburg has around 500,000 inhabitants and is located at the confluence of the Rhine and Ruhr rivers. It was once famous for coal mining and steel production, but in recent decades has faced high unemployment and poverty.
The president of the German parliament, Baerbel Bas Duisburg, was shocked by the attack.
Last month, a gunman attacked a former Jehovah’s Witness hall in the northern German city of Hamburg, killing six people after police arrived.
