Delhi’s Average Maximum Temperature For February 3rd Highest In 63 Years

Delhi’s average maximum temperature for the month of February this year was set at 27.7 degrees Celsius, the third highest temperature in the last 63 years, according to data released by officials on Tuesday.
The city recorded a high of 32.1 degrees Celsius at the Safdarjung Observatory, the capital’s main meteorological station, on Tuesday. It was seven degrees above normal.

According to data shared by officials, the city had an average maximum temperature of 27.9 degrees Celsius in February at Safdarjung station in 1960.

The corresponding figure in 2006 was 29.7 degrees Celsius, and the figure for 2023 is 27.7 degrees Celsius, according to shared data.

The national capital has seen some hot years this February.

Delhi on February 20 recorded its third hottest February day since 1969 when the maximum temperature at the Safdarjung Observatory soared to 33.6 degrees Celsius.

The figure on Monday was nine degrees above normal.

A relative humidity of 42 per cent was recorded on Tuesday evening, according to IMD data.

The air quality in Delhi was in the “poor” category as the air quality index (AQI) was 222 at 7 pm. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered “good”, 51 and 100 as “satisfactory”, 101 and 200 as ” moderate’, 201 and 300 for ‘bad’, 301 and 400 for ‘very bad’ and 401 and 500 for ‘severe’.
