Brixton Academy: Four critical after crushing at Asake gig

Eight people were injured, including four who are in critical condition, after a large crowd tried to force their way into a concert at the O2 Academy Brixton in London.

The Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation into what they say is an “extremely disturbing” incident at a concert by Nigerian singer-songwriter Asake.

Police were called to the south London venue at around 9.35pm on Thursday after reports that a large number of people were trying to force their way in. They found a number of people with “injuries believed to have been caused by crushing”.

Of the eight people taken to the hospital, four are in critical condition.
