Battle Creek air show accident: 1 killed in jet truck explosion in Michigan, police say
Fight CREEK, Mich. – – One individual is dead after a mishap during the “pyrotechnic piece” of an aviation expo in Michigan, police said.
The episode happened Saturday soon after 1 p.m. at the Battle Creek Field of Flight Air Show and Balloon Festival, held at Battle Creek Executive Airport.
Chris Darnell, 40, kicked the bucket while driving a race truck named the Shockwave Jet Truck during the flying demonstration, police said in an update Saturday night. The mishap is being scrutinized.

“Oh rapture, we have an occurrence here with our Shockwave over here at Air Show Center,” the commentator can be heard saying following the mishap.
The Battle Creek Fire Department, Battle Creek Police Department and Federal Aviation Administration answered the scene, police said.
Police have not delivered any additional data in the midst of the examination.
The rest of Saturday’s flying demonstration was dropped “keeping in mind the episode that has happened,” Battle Creek Field of Flight said in a proclamation. Saturday night’s exercises were planned to continue at the celebration, which goes through Monday.
