Russia Claims Ukraine Attempted Putin Assassination, 2 Drones Shot Down

Ukraine targets Vladimir Putin’s Moscow residence in assassination bid, says Russia

Russia has accused Ukraine of making an attempt on the life of President Vladimir Putin. It has claimed to have shot down two drones that were allegedly used in the attack. The Kremlin has stated that Russia has the right to retaliate, which could escalate the war with Ukraine further. Fortunately, Putin was unharmed and there was no damage to the Kremlin building. The alleged attack has been called a “planned terrorist act and an attempt on the life of the President of the Russian Federation” by the Kremlin. Ukraine has denied any involvement in the attack. Moscow’s mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, has since banned unauthorized drone flights over the city. Despite the incident, the Victory Day parade will still go ahead in Moscow on May 9. Russia has experienced several drone and other attacks on its energy, logistics, and military facilities since launching its “special military operation” in Ukraine, with Kyiv often making sarcastic comments welcoming the attacks.
