MAYFAIR – Police say an Uber driver shot and killed and guy and badly injured another during an attempted robbery in a single day in Mayfair.
Investigators from the Philadelphia Police Department stated a group of 3 armed men approached the driver as he was getting out of his car on the 3200 block of Longshore Avenue just after middle of the night Saturday.
The driver, who police say is authorized to hold a firearm, shot a minimum of two of the alleged robbers a number of times and may have injured the 3rd. The men, both in their 20s, have been taken by responding officers to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital where one died.
Investigators were not sure if the 3rd alleged robber who fled from the scene used to be injured during the shooting.
Inspector DF Pace informed journalists that the unnamed Uber driver remained at the scene of the shooting and described what came about to officers.
An update from the Philadelphia Police Department said an arrest was made and two guns had been recovered.
