Salman Rushdie stabbed on stage in New York, US
Salman Rushdie was stabbed on Friday, August 12, while witnesses claimed he could have been helped off the stage and the attacker was drugged.
The Chautauqua Institution is a non-profit organization that Salman visited for a discussion in the United States as an asylum for writers and other exiled artists and a home for freedom of creative expression. .
Salman Rushdie has previously received death threats for his writing, with his book The Satanic Verses sparking protests in 1988.
Shockingly, people were quick to offer their support to Salman Rushdie.
Writer and researcher Wajahat Ali wrote, “Ignorant men want to police the world by force. Salman Rushdie was stabbed today. I got busted by the FBI yesterday.
“I fear that these examples of violence will only increase the polarization, misinformation and extremism that is prevalent.”
One commented: “Salman Rushdie has just been stabbed – since 1989 he has been issued a fatwa by the Ayatollah of Iran.”
“It comes right after the arrest of the man Iran paid $300,000 to kill John Bolton and the threats against Masih Alinejad in Brooklyn. I’d say that’s no coincidence.”
Author Stephen King simply added, “I hope Salman Rushdie is OK.”
According to Major Eugene J Staniszewski of the New York State Police, he said, “On August 12, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., a suspicious male entered the stage and assaulted Rushdie and the interviewer.
“Rushdie suffered an apparent stab wound to the neck and was airlifted to a local hospital.
“His condition is still unknown, the interviewer was slightly injured on the head. A state trooper assigned to the incident immediately took the suspect into custody.”
