A stray dog was thrashed to death in Mumbai’s Goregaon (West) on May 4. A video of the animal brutality has gone viral on social media. In the viral video, the accused can be seen thrashing the dog with an iron rod. He allegedly thrashed the canine for tearing the seat cover of his bike and dragged the animal with its leg and dumped it near a nullah. The police have registered an FIR against the accused, who has been identified as Imran Yunus Shah, under Section 429 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and Section 11 (1) (A) of the Prevention for the Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
