Several people died in a shooting at a shopping center in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, police said.
Announcing his death, Police Chief Soren Thomassen said a 22-year-old ethnic Dane had been arrested in connection with the attack.
Thomassen said his motives were unclear but could not rule out “acts of terrorism”.

Witnesses reported panic among shoppers when gunshots were heard at the Field mall in the south of the city.
Emily Jeppesen told the Jyllands-Posten newspaper: “They had no idea what was going on. Suddenly there was chaos everywhere.”
Another witness, Mahdi Al-Wazni, told TV2 that the gunman was carrying a “hunting rifle”.

At a news conference on Sunday evening, Thomassen said it was too early to say how many people were injured in the attack.
But he told reporters there was no indication another gunman was involved and urged shop owners to keep any CCTV footage they might have.
Field’s is Denmark’s largest shopping center with over 140 shops and restaurants. This multi-storey shopping center is located on the outskirts of Copenhagen, just across the metro line connecting to the city centre.

British singer Harry Styles will perform a concert less than a mile from the stage later that evening.

Organizers wrote on Facebook that the concert would take place after close coordination with the police.

Styles wrote on Snapchat: “My team and I pray for everyone involved in the shooting at the Copenhagen shopping center. I’m shocked. I love H.”

Shortly after filming, the Danish royal family announced that a reception that was supposed to be attended by Crown Prince Frederik had been cancelled. The event was organized to celebrate Denmark hosting the first three stages of the Tour de France.

Denmark last witnessed a major terrorist attack in 2015, when two people were killed and six police officers injured in attacks on a cultural center and synagogue in Copenhagen.

The gunman later died in a shootout with police
