Each of the five Camp Pendleton-based Marines who were on board an Osprey airplane that went down in the desert in Imperial County, around 150 miles east of San Diego, are dead, the U.S. Marine Corps affirmed Thursday.
The MV-22B Osprey having a place with third Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW) crashed close to Glamis, CA, at around 12:25 p.m. Wednesday evening, first Lt. Duane Kampa, a representative for the third MAW, said.
Military authorities considered the accident a “disaster,” yet delivered not many different subtleties of what prompted the accident.
“We grieve the deficiency of our Marines in this shocking disaster. Our hearts go out to their families and companions as they adapt to this misfortune,” third MAW Maj. Gen. Bradford J. Gering said.
The personalities of the Marines killed wouldn’t be delivered until 24 hours after families are advised, the USMC said.
The MV-22B Osprey and the Marines on board were based at Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton with Marine Aircraft Group 39.
