Uzbekistan extends support for India’s permanent membership at UNSC

Ambassador of Uzbekistan to India, Dilshod Akhatov on August 1 stated that India is one of the biggest members of the United Nations (UN) and plays an important role. He extended support to Indian candidature to obtain the status of a permanent member of UNSC. “India is one of the biggest members of the UN and plays an important role. Its permanent membership for the next two years is an important event. Uzbekistan supports Indian candidacy to obtain a permanent membership in the council,” Akhatov told ANI. Akhatov’s statement comes after India today assumed the rotating presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and will be hosting signature events related to maritime security, peacekeeping, and counterterrorism during the month.
