Three people shot in Midtown Atlanta; shooter not in custody

Atlanta Police say three people were shot Monday about 2 p.m. in Midtown. The shooter is not in custody and police are asking people to stay off streets around Colony Square, specifically between 12th Street and Peachtree Street NE and 15th Street and W. Peachtree Street NW.

“We are currently working an active situation in Midtown,” APD said in a release and on social media. “Preliminary information indicates three people have been shot. The shooter is not in custody and several police officers in the area are searching for the suspect. Residents are asked to stay off downtown streets, especially in the areas between 12th Street and Peachtree Street NE and 15th Street and W. Peachtree Street NW.”

According to a news release issued by the Midtown Neighborhood Association and Midtown, APD is looking for a black female wearing jeans and a black and white shirt with horizontal stripes.

The Midtown Neighborhood Association posted a surveillance image of the suspect on Instagram.
The report also said there were two shootings — at 1280 West Peachtree and 1100 Peachtree. Preliminary information indicates the same suspect for both incidents. Three people have been shot and one is deceased.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that APD has identified the suspect and that she may have left the area in a cab or ride share.

Apartments and condos in the area issued notices for residents to be mindful of their surroundings and not let anyone on foot or in a car follow them inside.
