Lucknow Gang-Rape Case: Autorickshaw Driver, Accused of Raping Girl With Accomplice, Arrested After Brief Encounter
Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow police have arrested the second accused in connection with the gang-rape case in Lucknow, officials said on Wednesday.
The accused was identified as Imran and was detained only after a brief encounter. According to reports, Imran tried to run away, to which officials responded by shooting him in the leg.
He was later arrested with the weapons and ammunition in his possession.”We got a tip about his location. Based on that, our team tracked the accused. Imran tried to run away, we shot him in the leg to stop him.

“Police have already arrested Akash Tiwari, another accused in the incident, on October 17,” said DCP Singh. Earlier on October 17, a commissioned officer was suspended for negligence in the Lucknow gang-rape. Senior officer Husdia Hussain Abbas is part of the local police team.
According to reports, the girl was raped while returning to her residence on October 15. The car driver and his accomplice raped her and fled the scene. The accused left the rape survivor at the Husdia junction, police said.
“Following the complaint of the rape survivors, the local police were negligent due to which the lead base was suspended,” Lucknow Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Prachi Singh said. Further investigations are underway in this matter.
