Srinagar: Hurriyat leader Qazi Yasir’s shopping complex was partially demolished in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag after the administration alleged that he encroached on government land to construct the same. Visuals from the ground showed that a JCB was used to destroy parts of a building that was built illegally on government land.
Neither Qazi Yasir nor his family or spokesperson have responded to the allegations leveled against him by the Jammu and Kashmir administration. On Thursday morning, government officials from the revenue department of Anantnag district administration, accompanied by the police, carried out the demolition.
The structure will be handed over to Anantnag Municipal Council for further action, officials said. All procedures were completed before demolition, they added.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday attached the Rajbagh area office of the separatist Hurriyat Conference here on the orders of a Delhi court in a terror financing case.
A team of the federal agency arrived at the Hurriyat office and pasted an attachment on the outer wall of the building, saying, “This is to inform all members of the public that the building where the All Party Hurriyat Conference office is located at Rajbagh is jointly owned by Nayeem Ahmad Khan, who is currently the time he is facing the trial… was attached vide order dated January 27, 2023 by the Special Court of NIA Patiala House, New Delhi,” the notice said.
The Hurriyat Conference is an amalgamation of 26 separatist groups and was founded in 1993.
