India beat England by 7 wickets in their first warm-up game in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 in Dubai on October 18.

Needing 189 runs to win, India scored 192/3 in 19 overs thanks to first wicket partnership of 82 runs in 8.2 overs by openers Ishan Kishan 70 retired not out (46 balls, 7 fours, 3 sixes) and KL Rahul 51 runs (24 balls, 6 fours, 3 sixes).

Rishabh Pant 29 not out (14 balls, 1 four, 3 sixes) and Hardik Pandya 16 not out (10 balls, 3 fours) finished the match for India after fall of Virat Kohli 11 runs (13 balls) and Suryakumar Yadav 8 runs (9 balls, 1 four).

Liam Livingstone (10/1 off 2 overs), David Willey (16/1 off 3 overs) and Mark Wood (22/1 off 2 overs) were the wicket-takers for England.

Earlier, Indian skipper Kohli won the toss and invited England captain Jos Buttler to bat.

England scored 188/5 in 20 overs, as their middle order consisting of Jonny Bairstow 49 runs (36 balls, 4 fours, 1 six), Moeen Ali 43 not out (20 balls, 4 fours, 2 sixes) and Liam Livingstone 30 runs (20 balls, 4 fours, 1 six) made the bulk of runs.

Jos Buttler 18 runs (13 balls, 3 fours) and Jason Roy 17 runs (13 balls, 2 fours) gave a flying start to England, as they put on 36 runs in 3.4 overs. Dawid Malan 18 runs (18 balls, 3 fours) too carried on the momentum given by the England openers.

All the Indian bowlers, except Ravichandran Ashwin (23/0 off 4 overs) and Jasprit Bumrah (26/1 off 4 overs) were taken for runs by England.

Mohammed Shami (40/3 off 4 overs) and Rahul Chahar (43/1 off 4 overs) picked up wickets despite being expensive.
