India beat Australia by 8 wickets in their second warm-up game in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 in Dubai on October 20.
Needing 153 runs to win, India scored 153/2 in 17.5 overs. Openers Rohit Sharma 60 retired out (41 balls, 5 fours, 3 sixes) and KL Rahul 39 runs (31 balls, 2 fours, 3 sixes) put on a partnership of 68 runs for the first wicket in 9.2 overs.
Suryakumar Yadav 38 not out (27 balls, 5 four, 1 six) and Hardik Pandya 14 not out (8 balls, 1 six) finished the match for India.
Ashton Agar (14/1 off 2 overs) was the only successful bowler for Australia.
Earlier, Australia captain Aaron Finch won the toss and invited Team India-led by Rohit Sharma to bowl.
Australia scored 152/5 in 20 overs despite a poor start. India made early breakthroughs as Australia was reduced to 11/3 in 3.1 overs.
Aaron Finch 8 runs (10 balls, 1 four), David Warner 1 run (7 balls) and Mitchell Marsh 0 (1 ball) were sent back cheaply by spin-twins Ravichandran Ashwin (8/2 in 2 overs) and Ravindra Jadeja (35/1 off 4 overs).
Steven Smith 57 runs (48 balls, 7 fours) and Glenn Maxwell 37 runs (28 balls, 5 fours) stitched a partnership of 61 runs to bring Australia back into the match.
Marcus Stoinis 41 not out (25 balls, 4 four, 1 six) ensured that Australia ended up with 152/5 in 20 overs.
Rahul Chahar (17/1 off 3 overs) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (27/1 off 4 overs) were also among wickets for India.
