Ankush Dutta checked into Delhi’s Roseate House on May 30, 2019, for a one-night stay.
Dutta extended his stay and left 603 days later on January 22, 2021, without paying his bills.
The unpaid bills amounted to 5.8 million Indian rupees (over $70,700), according to The Indian Express.
The hotel alleges that its staff helped Dutta evade payment by falsifying accounts.
In the police complaint, the hotel stated that the staff forged, deleted, added, and falsified numerous entries in Dutta’s account.
A senior police officer mentioned that the staff and Dutta deleted entries, forged reports, provided forged cheques and documents, and misused the hotel’s electronic system to avoid payment.
The hotel claims that the extensive forgery and falsification of accounts were done to siphon off cash payments.
Police investigations are currently underway, as reported by The Indian Express.
