Ward boy stabs woman doctor with scissors in Nashik hospital after minor dispute; video surfaces
Nashik: In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old woman, who is a local doctor, was stabbed with scissors by a ward body at NIMS Hospital on Gangapur Road in Maharashtra’s Nashik after a minor argument. A video of the attack has gone viral on social media platforms.
Although the incident took place on the night of December 25, the matter came to the fore today after the city police arrested a ward boy identified as 19-year-old Aniket Dongre.
Accused Aniket Dongre was arrested on charges of attempted murder. “Sonal Darade, a BAMS doctor, sustained deep injuries on her neck and stomach. Her condition is stable,” Deputy Inspector Nitin Pawar of the Gangapur police said, as reported by TOI.
According to the FIR, registered by doctor’s brother Sukdev Avhad, who is a resident of Gangapur Road, Dongre assaulted the doctor around 8.30 pm at the 45-bed hospital.
Pawar said that Dongre and Darade had an argument during their routine work because the ward boy was not keeping some items in the pathology ward clean. “An angry ward boy attacked the doctor with scissors. She was injured on the neck and abdomen on the right side. A doctor was immediately deployed for treatment,” Pawar was quoted as saying by TOI.
Meanwhile, a hospital official informed that this was the first time such an incident had occurred at the medical center and assured that protocols would be put in place to avert such incidents in the future.
