2 dead, 17 injured as massive fire breaks out in Nashik factory; rescue operation underway

Maharashtra | Massive #fire breaks out in a factory located in #Nashik after a blast in the boiler room. 1 person has been killed in the incident, 11 workers have been injured while several others remain trapped.

Two people were killed and 17 injured after a major fire broke out at a factory in Igatpuri in Nashik district on Sunday, local authorities said.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said 11 persons trapped in the factory have so far been rescued and taken to the nearby Suyash Hospital, adding that efforts are being made to rescue those who still fear being trapped.

A fire broke out at the Jindal Chemical Factory in Mundegaon village of Igatpuri tehsil near Nashik on Sunday morning.

Talking to reporters, Shinde said, “A big fire broke out at the Jindal Chemical Factory in Igatpuri. 11 persons who were trapped inside the factory have so far been rescued and taken to the nearby Suyash Hospital. A firefighting and rescue operation is underway. I am in constant contact with the district management. I’ll go there and visit the site.”
